Kinetic Awareness is an experiential movement analysis with focus on: experiential anatomy, listening to the language of the body, injury prevention, centering and balancing, keeping the body healthy, flexible and strong through understanding the natural movement of all anatomical and physiological systems. It is known as "The Ball Work" as rubber balls of various sizes are used as an aide to focusing on individual parts of the body and, as a side benefit, also act as a passive massage to soothe troubled, injured and tender bodies.
Typically, the duration of sessions is two hours with an extra half hour given over for discussion of basic anatomy as well as individual experience. Kinetic Awareness is the tool of choice by many professional performers in New York City and throughout the world.
Among the very first
graduates of the New York City and State licensed Kinetic Awareness
Center, Barbara Mueller is a Master Certified Kinetic Awareness Teacher and has studied personally and danced professionally for seven years with Kinetic
Awareness originator Elaine Summers. Barbara Mueller has been teaching classes and workshops in this innovative body/mind
work in the US, Canada and Europe for twenty years and is currently based in Athens, Greece.
